Smokie, was a senior pit bull, abandoned by his family at NYACC. We learned of Smokie’s plight from Susie’s Senior Dogs, a non profit organization geared towards raising awareness for senior animals. As luck would have it, just 2 days after seeing his plea on Facebook, Imagine Pet Rescue reached out to us to see if we could help; we worked with them in the fall of last year, to help transport Mr. Peter, who had been left in an abandoned building in NYC, tied up and left to die alone.
A plan was quickly hatched, and Smokie’s itinerary was set; thanks to the awesome Sasha Bruno of Adopt a cuddle bear, Smokie was pulled from the shelter in NY, placed at a vet, and then transported to meet us at Morristown airport in NJ.
On a crisp Thursday morning, we left our home airport in Doylestown PA, and embarked on the short 20 minute flight to NJ; meeting Smokie in person was just as sweet as we knew it would be; this senior was nothing but love and kisses.
We loaded up with Smokie for the 2 hour flight to Arnold Palmer airport just out side of Pittsburgh PA, where Smokie would find his furever home. There is something special about senior dogs, and something extra special about this one 🙂
